Japanese rice paper and bamboo.

Measurements: 225 x 100 x 22 cm.
This floor lamp is inspired by traditional Japanese Uchiwa fans and is made of Japanese rice paper. Ingo Maurer's interest in paper for lampshades was linked to his interest in Japan. Between 1973 and 1975 he produced several lamps from traditional Japanese fans.
The German designer Ingo Maurer, who specialized in the creation of lighting pieces, founded his own firm in 1963, originally called Design M. Throughout his career he has carried out important lighting projects, in places such as the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris or the Villa Medici in Rome, and has received important awards such as the Collab's Design Excellence Award, the Georg Jensen Prize, the Oribe Award and the Compasso d'Oro, among others. His designs are currently represented in the world's most important collections, including that of the MoMA in New York.
