White jade carved in one piece with light reddish-golden stains. It shows a dynamic and cheerful scene, where two small monkeys climb on a large peach tree from which emerges a long and curled peach tree branch covered by smaller fruits.
In Chinese culture, the peach fruit is associated with longevity and good fortune, while the monkey is one of the twelve animals of the zodiac. Both elements are commonly represented in all kinds of objects such as jades, ceramics or paintings. With a rope and decorative stone added later.
