ÉVENTAIL.
In needlepoint lace, leaf in gauze stitch decorated with a spray of roses in full bloom with pearled hearts and sprigs of lily of the valley, reminiscent of the decoration on the plume, adorned in the center in a cartouche with a romantic scene painted on silk, framed by the monogram L (Limbourg) under a count's crown and the monogram S (Stirum) under a count's crown, also framed by lily of the valley flowers. Ivory mounting with carved decoration of flowers and sprigs of lily of the valley. Preserved in its original carved and gilded wood frame decorated with rosebuds, scrolls and shells, made by Gebrüder Rohlich in Berlin. Good condition.

History: Present given to the young Countess of Limburg-Stirum, née Mary-Joy Newland (1883-1960), on the occasion of her wedding on June 30, 1908.
