Reference: Our miniature is to be compared with the portrait by the English artist Thomas Stewart (1766-1801), dated 1792, recently acquired by the National Portrait Gallery in London, which in turn is a reproduction of the portrait by Jean-Laurent Mosnier (1743-1808), representing the Chevalier d'Éon, in the Lowther Castle collections.
