TRAVEL TRIPTYCH ICON.
By KONOFF, Moscow, 1908-1917.
In silver, adorned on the front with a finely chased motif, set with four amethysts. The two panels of the triptych open onto a metal-painted icon of the Holy Face, framed by the Holy Mother of God and St. John the Baptist in a polychrome cloisonné enamel frame set with three amethyst cabochons. The reverse is engraved with an Orthodox cross surmounted by a handwritten inscription in Cyrillic characters: "Save, Lord your people and bless all that belongs to you", a tropary (hymn) celebrating the exaltation of the cross. The painting of the Blessed Virgin is partly faded.
