Juliette LEMONTEY Twins, 2023 One-of-a-kind monotypes American box 28x34 cm, thickness 4.2cm Signed on back of box Juliette Lemontey lives and works between Paris and Arles. After studying art, where she was introduced to engraving, which would determine the writing of her line, she began exhibiting in France and abroad. In 2018, she was one of the artists selected for the Berthe et André Noufflard prize, Fondation de France, dedicated exclusively to painting. "With an economy of means, a sure line, large flat tints of dense black, red, walnut stain, Juliette Lemontey paints silhouettes, faces, surprised in a moment of abandonment, of inner withdrawal, in a familiar movement. There's no voyeurism here, just an intimacy and closeness that brings us back to our own physical presence and history. Faces, barely sketched or erased, are silent mirrors into which we plunge in search of an encounter, a soul-to-soul dialogue. {...}J.Lemontey succeeds in capturing states of mind, fragile and suspended moments with force." Laure Boucomont, director of the Fertile association
