On the reverse, an old handwritten inscription on paper in pen and brown ink: Esquisse d'un grand et beau tableau de Ste geneviève peint par Jean Senelle vers 1640 et qui est à l'altel (words crossed out) de la chapelle de ce nom dans la cathédrale de Meaux. This painter had a great reputation and the paintings he did for the churches are (?) much admired in the countries near Paris".
At bottom right, a small fragment of a printed label: Roinard, chanoine.
