ROY, Auguste - PIAT, Émile et Félix. Théâtre municipal de Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne). Four drawings. Fontainebleau's municipal theater and adjoining ballroom were built between Rue Dénecourt, Rue Richelieu and Rue de Ferrare - between 1910 and 1912 by architects Fernand Lucas and Paul Marion, following a competition organized in January 1905. The drawings presented here are those submitted to the submitted to the competition by architects Auguste Roy and brothers Émile and Félix Piat. a) "Cross-section, village hall, theater", "Cross-section, village hall and loggia", "Rear facade, rue de Ferrare" and "Perspective, rue Denécourt Denécourt, rue Richelieu". India ink, watercolor and pencil. 61 x 95 cm. Drawing restored and lined. Mottling. Signed lower right: "Auguste Roy, Félix Piat, Émile Piat, Architectes diplômés par le Gouvernement". Mention on the back of the drawing, in large letters: "M. Piat, 78 rue d'Anjou, Paris, Théâtre et salle des fêtes". b / c) Two drawings: "Rez-de-Chaussée" and "1er étage". Watercolor and 95 x 61 cm each. Signed lower right. Very heavy wetness, marginal tears. (Not reproduced). Nota : Félix Piat (b. 1870) was a pupil of Victor Salson, Louis Jules André and Victor Laloux. Émile Jules Piat (1872-1956), his brother, studied with the same teachers. They collaborated extensively and took part in several competitions for public buildings. Together, they won competitions for abattoirs in Soissons (1901), Vichy and Toulouse, as well as first prize for a school complex in Saint-Cloud (1905). The Piat brothers also collaborated with Auguste Roy (1873-1960), who was a pupil of Henri and Émile Duray and Victor Laloux, and notably built the rotunda of the Paris City Hall Bazaar in 1913. Together, the three built school complexes in Saint-Denis, Montretout and Maisons-Alfort, and took part in the competition to build a theater and village hall for the town of Fontainebleau.
