Nota :
- This gentle composition is actually an allegory of winter. It is related to a series of four autographed pastels by Charles Antoine Coypel, whose whereabouts are still unknown. Very popular in the 18th century, these compositions are known from numerous reproductions by himself or his workshop, and from the series of engravings by Simon François Ravenet the elder.
