ALFRED BAVEUX. A RARE LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH GRAND SONNERIE CARRIAGE CLOCK ON FOUR GONGS the gilt brass case enclosing a gilt masked enamel dial with blue Roman numerals and subsidiary alarm dial below fronting an eight-day spring-driven movement chiming and repeating the quarters on four gongs with selection lever to the underside, makers mark on the front plate and original compensated lever escapement (19.5cm high handle up.) The clock is ticking with the original lever escapement and chimes but is out of sequence, so it will require attention; the case and gilding are in good condition with no damage to the glass panels. The dials are also in good condition with no chips or cracks.
