CHARLES BURGES, LONDON. A GEORGE III FIGURED MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK the slender case with shaped pediment and reeded columns enclosing a 12" arched brass dial with rococo spandrels and silvered chapter ring surrounding a matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, the arch with Strike/Silent dial fronting an eight-day weight driven movement with five knopped pillars and anchor escapement striking on a bell. (222cm high not including finial.) The case has been repolished, there is a small amount of veneer damage to the left corner edge of the base, the movement is original to case and is working but may need a service. The dial is in good condition with original gilding, the silvering to the chapter ring is discoloured in places. Comes with original brass cased weights and pendulum.
