A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH BRASS AND CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL CARRIAGE-STYLE MANTEL CLOCK with folding handle enclosing a silvered combined thermometer and compass above a 4" gilt brass dial with diamond paste stone bezel and Roman chapter ring surrounding a sunken centre with visible balance wheel escapement fronting an eight-day spring driven movement striking the hours and half hours on a gong. (27cm high handle up.) The case has a small scratch in the lacquer to the right side, not in the brass, but no other damage; the movement looks clean and strikes the correct hours; the clock ticks for a few seconds, then stops; a little oil would probably have it running.
