Manner of David Teniers the Younger,
late 18th/early 19th century-
Figures dancing outside an inn, by a river;
oil on panel, 32.5 x 41.8 cm.
Provenance:
Private Collection, UK.
Note:
The present work is executed in the manner of Teniers (1610-1690), who produced a number of scenes depicting rustic figures dancing, drinking, and making music outside a tavern in a typically Dutch landscape. The present composition recalls that of an original by Teniers in the collection of the National Trust at Buckland Abbey in Devon [NT 810132], and another depicting 'A Kermis on St George's Day' in the Royal Collection [RCIN 405952].
