Comment: Beck was a German teacher, painter and draughtsman. After a teaching position in Morocco (before 1914), he lived as a soldier in Turkey and Palestine. In addition to art, he was intensively involved with geology and thus with prehistory and early history. When he returned to Germany, he eventually became a monument conservator for the city of Constance. In his art, Beck mostly processed the impressions of his multifaceted life.
