Alfons Beck (1890-1968), 'Szene in der Hafenstadt Tanger' / 'Scene from the port city Tanger', Marokko, 1922 Technique: oil crayons on paper, behind glass, framed, Signature: signed and dated lower right on the carpet 'A. Beck, May 1922', Dimensions: 53 x 38 cm, frame 62 x 46 cm, Condition: good, Accompanied by: Postcard from the artist to friends, Comment: Beck was a German teacher, painter and draughtsman. After a teaching position in Morocco (before 1914), he lived as a soldier in Turkey and Palestine. In addition to art, he was intensively involved with geology and thus with prehistory and early history. When he returned to Germany, he eventually became a monument conservator for the city of Constance. In his art, Beck mostly processed the impressions of his multifaceted life.
