Early 19th century company sword, straight throat blade with flat back, lenticular cross-section, chased gilt-bronze frame, lion's head pommel from which rises a flat, recessed guard arm decorated with a frieze of foliage, enlarged at its center into an oval medallion decorated with a heliotrope flower. The quillon arches forward to form a scallop shell, and the guard plate is a shield in the Antique style bearing a helmeted Minerva leaning on its spear against a flag background. Mother-of-pearl rifling plates (one missing), no scabbard.
