Gorgeous drawing with animated mythological scene. Marcantonio Bassetti, born in Verona, was trained in the workshop of Felice Brusasorci and after 1605 he moved to Venice where he completed his training and became a friend of Palma il Giovane. Between 1615 and 1620 he was in Rome with his Veronese colleagues Turchi and Ottino. According to Ridolfi, he had a special gift for drawing. Of his stay in Venice he says: "He stayed there for some time, copying the most excellent paintings of Tintoretto, nor was there a young person in his time who would more accurately report them in drawings such as the touch of white and black oil on the paper. . In this way many still see some of his inventions ... "In 1616 Marcantonio wrote from Rome to Jacopo Palma informing him that he had given life to a Venetian Academy," drawing the attitudes with brushes and colors "and showing" that when you draw you paint again ".
