Optical view depicting a perspective view of the Royal Gallery in Copenhagen leading to the garden. Vues d'optiques, or prints of perspective views, were a fashionable entertainment in the elite salons of the 18th century, but also a popular street entertainment during fairs and markets. By virtue of the fact that people traveled very little, they offered an opportunity for escapism and dreaming with the accentuation of perspective and light effects.
