Splendid engraving based on a drawing by Joan Blaeu from 1724. From the Nouveau Theatre d'Italie. Joan Blaeu (1596 1673) was a Dutch cartographer, son of Willem Blaeu. He and his brother Cornelius took over the firm after their father's death in 1638. He became the official cartographer of the Dutch East India Company.
