A patriotic First World War poster published in Paris in 1917 to encourage the French to subscribe to the Third National Defense Loan. The chosen theme is the touching embrace between a soldier, probably on his way to the front, and his little daughter, while in the background, uncolored, his wife breastfeeds a child.Posters were an excellent means of propaganda and many were created with allegorical 'patriotic' themes, intended to arouse emotion and generosity.Jules Marie Auguste Leroux (1871 - 1954) was a French painter and illustrator.
