Cascata delle Marmore. ORLANDI. Relazione della Caduta del Velino denominata delle Marmore. Original, unpublished manuscript. Important work of local history concerning the city of Terni and the Marmore Falls. The author, a lawyer from Terni, carries out erudite research illustrating the oldest sources on the Marmore Falls, with special attention to Roman tombstones and inscriptions, as well as the studies of various scholars, including Alberti and Muratori. The work is dedicated to the Duchess of Chartres and Orleans, Louise Marie Adelaide of Bourbon, 1753-1821, who married Louis Philippe II, Duke of Orleans, the regicide Philippe Égalité, and was the mother of Louis Philippe, King of the French. At the beginning of the text, Gaetano Orlandi mentions the work he had published in 1753 on the "dignity of magistrates" (Doppo avert to make known by other dissertation in the form of a letter ...); we therefore have a certain reference to situate the writing of this manuscript after that date.
