Photograph by a Paris Match photographer: Nürburgring circuit, August 1, 1965. Englishman John Surtees, former motorcycle champion (he won seven world titles in the 350 cm3 and 500 cm3 classes),
literally blows his Ferrari out of the water on the way up a hill. Gearbox problems forced him to retire on lap 11, leaving his compatriot Jim Clark to win the German Grand Prix.
