Les Maîtres de l'Affiche PAL (Jean DE PALEOLOGUE) Cancan dancers, 1895 Original color lithograph on fine wove paper Signed in the plate Size 39 x 29 cm The folio bears the publisher's stamp and the lithograph is also authenticated by the dry stamp of the publisher, L'Imprimerie Chaix. The first edition was created in 1893 for the Théâtre Olympia, for the play "Grand ballet Brighton". Lithograph was published by Les Maîtres de l'Affiche in L'Imprimerie Chaix in 1895. It was part of the eponymous portfolio (plate no. 35), which featured reproductions of the finest illustrated posters by the great artists of the day. Very good condition, minor marginal foxing.
