ANONYME CIRCA 1920, EXPEDITION CITROEN (PROVENANCE : BAGAGE AYANT APPARTENU A LEON POIRIER)
TRAVEL BAG in canvas and natural cowhide embellished with straps, brass trimmings, bearing the stencilled markings in the canvas of the bottom of the bag of its owner Léon Poirier, director of the 1926 silent documentary film "La croisière noire" documenting the Citroën Centrafrique expedition of 1924/25 and produced by films Gaumont. It also bears the stencilled inscriptions "expedition Citroën" on the front, the carmaker's initials on the back, "quai de Javel Paris" on one side and Africa on the other, with some marks embellished with traces of stamping. The leather band is stamped with the monograms "L P" and dated 1924 (no padlock) (as is: heavy soiling, patina, cracks and stains on the leather parts, small accidents and brittleness of the side strap loops, deformations of the brass plates, oxidation, unscrewed reel, small seam reinforcements on the handles) (38 x 52 x 29 cm)
