Cees Braakman (1917-1995) for Pastoe.
Set of 5 armless chairs model Japanese SA070, 1960s
Minimalist design and sense of proportion for these chairs with oak wood structure and seat and back upholstered in original leather.
A year before assuming the direction of the Pastoe brand, Braakman visited the United States to learn about manufacturing techniques and processes and there he discovered the designs of Charles and Ray Eames with which he fell in love. After this visit he designed the Japanese series, and convinced the company to use a production method for this furniture similar to that of the Americans. Braakman remained with the company for 30 years and his pieces for Pastoe shaped what is known today as Dutch Modernism.
