Rosewood and amaranth chest of drawers, opening to four drawers in three rows, the top of breche d'Alep marble (repolished) resting on rounded uprights terminating in cambered feet, decorated on the front and sides with meandering frames, ormolu ornamentation to handles, falls, keyholes and claw hooves; (restorations). Stamped RVLC and R. Lacroix and JME, for Roger Vandercruse La Croix, cabinetmaker received master in 1755. Louis XVI period, circa 1775. H.: 86 cm ; W.: 127 cm ; D.: 56 cm The double RVLC and R. Lacroix stamp is also found on a porcelain-plate secretary in Waddesdon Manor (England). Dating of the plates suggests that the double stamp was used around 1775, but does not clarify its purpose.
