"Parisienne I
Bronze sculpture - red
Dimensions: H: 42; W: 25 cm
Françoise Abraham has been dancing since the age of six, trained by teachers at the Paris Opera in classical ballet. She soon discovered contemporary dance, and was forever marked by the symbiosis of life in movement. Form in space with fantasy, exuberance, lightness, roundness and humor. That, in a nutshell, is the personality of her work. From this period, she retains the methodical work discipline of a classical training, complemented by the unbridled spirit necessary for contemporary dance. These qualities are reflected in her sculptural work, in which she puts her imagination and fantasy at the service of a solid technique acquired in the studios of Italian and Parisian artists. Françoise makes her sculptures dance. Demanding and rigorous, she achieves taut forms full of sensuality. Her female figures propel themselves through space with speed and energy. And curiously, although she likes to cultivate her curves, her sculptures demonstrate an astonishing lightness, with the added touch of elegance, an ounce of humor and a break in balance that suits them perfectly. The bronzes' surprisingly colorful patinas play with the light to give these magnificently smooth pieces an extra sparkle. Their roundness appeals to the hand and the touch.
