Georges BOULOGNE (1926-1992)
Bronze sculpture with antique green patina and glass cabochons
Signed and dated on the terrace "Boulogne 69", numbered 2/8 and marked Susse Frères Éditeurs Paris
Height: 40 cm
Boulogne's art was influenced by the early Surrealists, whom he admired. In 1960, the sculptor created a portrait of Salvador Dali (1904-1969), with whom he had a close relationship. Boulogne was also impressed by the Renaissance masters of fantasy and their research into perspective, anamorphosis, optical effects and mimicry. Boulogne's art is based on a classical training. He studied at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1951-1958), where his teacher was Alfred Janniot (1889-1969).
