Trained at the School of La Lonja, Ortuño made his individual debut in 1971, and the following year he won the Young Painting Award of the Sala Parés. Since then, he has shown his work individually in Spain, Italy, Russia, Japan and the United States, in prominent venues such as the Pushkin Museum in St. Petersburg (2003), the Toho Art Corporation in Tokyo (1991), the Biosca Gallery in Madrid (1988) and the Spanish Cultural Institute of Santiago in Naples (1978), among many others. He has also participated in group exhibitions and fairs in Spain, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, United States, France, Argentina, Brazil, Santo Domingo, Belgium, Monaco and Switzerland. Ortuño's work is characterized by its intense colorfulness, in line with the Fauvist concept.
