Lluïsa Vidal was part of the young generation of Catalan modernist artists. Painter, draftswoman and illustrator, she was a great portraitist, highly valued for her ability to capture the emotional state of the portrayed. Another facet of her work is the genre painting, very characteristic of the painter and in which she shows with total naturalness the daily life of women. She also excelled in plein air painting and the artist's favorite subjects: popular festivals, village dances, beaches and streets, almost always with figures, vibrant colors, confident strokes and bold brushstrokes. She died young due to the worldwide pandemic of the Spanish flu, in Barcelona.
