Jules Moigniez, a pupil of Paul Comolera, was a famous animal sculptor who made his debut at the 1855 Universal Exhibition, then exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon between 1859 and 1892. His father, a foundryman in Saint-Martin-du-Tertre since 1850, published his work.
