REMIREMONT
MOUTARDIER in pewter of flared form with a base decorated with a frieze of lambrequins alternating with flowers, a pedestal with a heptagonal base with a foliate frieze, and a gadrooned, curved lid, fitted with a molded handle with a palmette poucier. Hallmark: C crowned / REMI(REM)ONT / (1693).
Height: 13 cm.
Early 18th century
Very rare provenance. Good condition, but the top of the lid is deformed.
Given the shape of the object, it is plausible that this single 1693 vintage was used after 1696, when Lorraine became ducal again and the obligation of control was abolished.
