BOUKHARA carpet (Central Asia), early 20th century
Dimensions: 164 x 115cm.
Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation.
A brick field supports two columns of seven Tekkés gühls interspersed with speckled cruciform secondary gühls.
Wide brick border with a succession of flamboyant star-shaped flowers, framed by four counter-borders with a series of florets and chevrons. Small stylized reserves (Élems) at each end. A fine specimen (minor wear).
