ARDEBIL carpet, KOUBA decor (Iran), 3rd third of the 20th century
Dimensions: 149 x 100cm.
Technical features: wool velvet on wool foundation.
A navy field, highlighted with oak leaves, hosts a curious ethnic décor featuring horsemen standing on their horses, women in broad, colorful costumes holding birds, interspersed with small men. Birds, fantastic animals, flowers and other symbols complete the decor. Ivory border with a series of stylized rhombuses, flanked by four emerald, brick and sky counter-borders with flowers and ribbons. Beautiful Caucasian decoration.
