Yvette Vincent-Alleaume (1927-2011) Cube ludique Composed of 3 bronze pieces, one monogrammed, numbered E.A. II/IV This sculpture reproduces the motif of the fountain in Place de la Mandallaz, created for the city of Annecy in 1991. H. 4 cm W. 4 cm D. 4 cm An integral part of the "new towns" (the Papasquare in Evry), the "1% artistic" policy (many public facilities are covered with frescoes, tapestries...), often monumental but with no pretensions other than access to art for all, Yvette Vincent-Alleaume's work has everything to be shunned by art market players... Yet when you think about it, isn't it the fruit of a reflection that has obsessed artists since the end of the 19th century? Art in everything, Art for everyone. Yvette Vincent-Alleaume's art is visible in the streets, accessible to all: in the Amandiers district of Paris, the Julliotes of Maison-Alfort, the sculpted forum of Orléans... she uses the materials of her time: brick, mosaic, ceramics, slate to bring fantasy and color to the woman who looks around during her sandwich break on the patio of Pau University, to the man who looks up and smiles as he crosses the Place de la Mandallaz in Annecy... And this art, with which many are at odds, reflects a whole era when "living together" didn't have the naive connotations it has today, when utopia was permitted. This utopia is accessible to you, because Yvette Vincent-Alleaume is also a sculptor (Cube ludique, La Dame aux oiseaux, L'Homme au ballon...) and a brilliant cartonnier: first in the tradition of Lurçat and Picart le Doux, then innovating in the image of a figurative Sheila Hicks (Déchirure), with brightly coloured tapestries in high relief, woven in the Angers workshops and renamed "sculpted tapestries"; and even jewelry designer, taking up the motifs used for her architectures (Main pendant, Labyrinthe...). With her public installations often overlooked, the challenge is to preserve the work of an essential artist.
