Abderrahmane OUARDANE (1947) Oracle and sacrifice,2020 Mixed media 115 x 100 cm. A certificate of authenticity, drawn up by the artist, will be issued to the buyer. A graduate of the THUR workshops in Paris, Abderrahmane Ouardane devoted his first exhibitions to the theme of the nude. In 1980, during a trip to the High Atlas, he met the "Femme d'Imilchil", an effigy that would influence his work. His exchanges with the modernists of the "Casablanca School", such as Belkahia, Melehi, Chabâa and other avant-garde pioneers, inspired him to experiment in a spirit of renewal. Ouardane's art is rooted in the vernacular sign, transcribing timeless imaginary worlds.
