Incarcerated after her husband's execution, from June 24 to August 17, 1794, Madame Lavoisier sends this poignant bill to her brother: "If I live, it is for you alone to be judged, if I des[ire] that you keep yourself. Ah mon frère est-il un sort pareil au mien"[]
