(circa 1802), large vol. in-folio, [2] ff. n. ch., 543 pp., covered in very regular, neat, perfectly legible handwriting (approx. 40-45 lines per page), [3] ff. n. ch. table, numerous tables in the text, text ruled in wood pencil, a few pastedowns, with a watercolor plate (p. 206), and a double-page table also out of the text (p. 322), half tan granite-stamped basane with corners, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt garlands, cherry-colored title page, [Inspecçao nas provincias da Beira e Traz os Montes], red-speckled edges (period binding). Some scuffing and loss of leather on binding. Bookplate of the Comte de Chambors pasted on the first endpapers. One of the rarest first-hand accounts of the Portuguese army in 1802.
