The Marquise de MONTESSON, born Charlotte-Jeanne BERAUD de la Haye de Riou, was a woman of letters and a notable figure in 18th-century French nobility. After marrying the Marquis de Montesson, in 1773 she became the mistress and then the morganatic wife of Louis-Philipe, Duc d'Orléans.
