Rectangular gilt bronze frame decorated with a frieze of stars and palmettes, trimmed on the reverse with two handwritten bills in pen, one in the hand of Comte Ernest de Canouville, Jules' brother:
"Jules de Canouville, killed at the battle of Moscowa on September 7, 1812". ,
the other annotated:
"written by his brother Cte Ernest."
Presented with cartouche on a blackened wood hanging frame.
