LEMOINE-BOUCHARD Nathalie, Les peintres en miniatures 1650-1850, Les éditions de l'amateur, Paris, 2008, p.91:
"Miniature painter, civil servant. Son of the preceding son (Charles Antoine Clause BERNY D'OUVILLE), he was a brilliant student who won second prize in Latin at the Concours général in 1828. In 1833, on a visit to Bordeaux, he announced in the Mémorial Bordelais his qualifications as "painter from Paris, attached to the Royal Manufactory of Sèvres, painter of miniatures, watercolors and washes, pupil of M. Renaud (sic), member of the Académie". This may be J.B. Regnault, but he does not appear on Brunet and Préaud's list of collaborators at the Manufacture de Sèvre."
Framed under glass.
