A JAPANESE MID-SIZE 6-PANEL BYÔBU WITH FLOWERS, LATE MEIJI PERIOD
Antique and lovely medium-sized six-panel room divider 屏風 (byôbu) with a refined painting of a luscious flower garden. Filled with flowers like all different type of chrysanthemums 菊 (kiku), blue bell flowers 桔梗 (kikyô), pink and white lespedeza 萩 (hagi), and blue asters 野菊 (nogiku).
The vibrant multi-colored painting is set on an oxidized silver base. The oxidized silver base has become dark gray.
The screen is in a good condition with some signs of age and wear. Please look at the photo of a small hole.
The folding screen is protected by a red and black negoro'nuri-style lacquer wooden frame.
This room divider is light in weight and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall as one large piece of art. Approx. 100 years old.
