Scribe and ashtray; VERLYS, Rouen, France, first half of the twentieth century. Molded glass. They show pitting and scratches. Signed. Measurements: 8 x 18 x 15 cm; 1,5 x 10,5 cm. Set consisting of a writing desk and an ashtray made of glass. The Verlys glass was produced in Rouen by the Sociéte Holophane Français, a company founded in 1920. Later, in 1935, production was transferred to the United States, specifically to Newark (Ohio). Verlys produced blown and molded glass pieces, often decorated with delicate cold carving work. They are pitted and scratched.
