Tile sherd, Iran and Central Asia, 14th - 15th century
Set of siliceous ceramic tile fragments including two border tiles, one broken in two, with calligraphic kufic decoration molded under a turquoise glaze; a branch of a cross decorated with blue palmettes on a light metallic lustre background and a half-star with vegetal decoration in metallic lustre.
8 x 21.6; 8 x 17.5; 6.4 x 9.6 cm; 9 x 4.6 cm
Strong turquoise glaze breaks on the border tiles, chips, all pieces fragmentary.
A fragment of architectural stucco decorated with intersecting bifid palmettes bordered by an interlacing frieze, probably from medieval Iran. 14.2 x 21 cm. As is.
