LOVALE, Zambia. Wood, plant fibers, beads. Mwana Phwevo" dance mask featuring a female face considered to be the ancestor of a matrilineal lineage. The aesthetics of this mask are very similar to those of the neighboring Lwena and Tshokwe, the face is very expressive and the mask still has part of its headdress and carrying hood. 1st half of the 20th century. Height: 21 cm.
