18th-century Aubusson tapestry panel, after a carton by Pillement.

Jean Pillement (or Jean-Baptiste Pillement), born May 24, 1728 in Lyon, where he died April 26, 1808, was a French painter. He was one of the leading exponents of the Rococo movement throughout Europe. Pillement was appointed painter to the King of Poland and to the Queen (Marie-Antoinette).
A bell-shaped garden kiosk and a pagoda, both in the background and perched on high ground, vie for the limelight with two exotic trees planted in a lush, humid undergrowth. Unless the real star is this multicolored parrot, towering over a more down-to-earth wader. A waving flower border on a brick background.
