Francis VEILLEROT, born 1958
In 1985, Francis Veillerot set up his first workshop as a craftsmen's cooperative in Ivry sur Seine. He changed direction in the 2000s, creating a line of solid wood furniture in a steel structure, then set up a second workshop in Seine et Marne in a former distillery.
In 2006, he moved to Brittany and set up his third workshop in Fougères. He joined Ebénistes & Créateurs de Bretagne, an association that brings together some twenty Breton craftsmen to exhibit their work. Combining wood and iron, his guiding principle is simple: to create lasting objects by
solid, noble materials. Shaping unique pieces of furniture with clean, sometimes unusual lines drawn freehand, Francis Veillerot explores all shapes, both accepted and unexpected, to create one-of-a-kind furniture.
Brittany inspires Francis Veillerot first and foremost through his contact with unspoiled nature - his workshop nestled near a quarry offers a vision of granite blocks - but also through his encounters with other designers and cabinet-makers who share the same need to create in Brittany, thus provoking an emulsion of local talent.
