Olympic Games/ summer, 1920/ Antwerp/ Coubertin/ Royal Family/ Revue /
Two issues of the semi-annual "Revue Sportive Illustrée" (37.5 x 28 cm):
a) 16th year, 1st issue of 1920, on the cover, the King's visit to the Antwerp Olympic Stadium, his car is a D'Ieteren frères. In this luxurious magazine crammed with fine industrial advertising, important articles on the Games: the skating and field hockey events, on the inauguration of the stadium and the royal visit, article by Baillet-Latour, "La VIIè Olympiade, la Belgique en assure l'organisation", 9 pages, highly illustrated; cover tired and stained, but inside impeccable;
b) idem, 2nd issue for 1920. With the Ostend regattas, tennis with Lenglen, Baron de Coubertin is there and signs a fine article: "the victory of Olympism"... Several fine articles on this "grandiose event, under the high patronage of the magazine..." with the Comte de Baillet-Latour, and the secretary of the executive committee of the VII Olympiad, M.R.W. Seeldrayers. Cover detached and tired, but again, perfect inside.
An invaluable, offbeat account of the Games. Also interesting for its illustrated overview of the automobile industry at the time.
