Olympic Games/ summer, 1928/ Amsterdam/ V.Hériot/ M.Uzelac/ Milivoy Uzelac (1897-1977) Lithograph from "Joies du Sport", published in 1932 on the initiative of Maurice Goddet (Jacques' brother), the artist Milivoy Uzelac (1897-1977) gives a fabulous idea of the beautiful person and fabulous sailor that was Madame Virginie Hériot (1890-1932). Olympic sailing champion in Amsterdam in 1928 with her 8m "Aile VI", she was rightly nicknamed by the poet Tagore: "Madame de la Mer"... In this image of Uzelac, with her flags flapping in the wind, that's how we embrace her, mystical. She was the friend of Alain Gerbault, of Cdt Charcot, and it was she who turned the whole of sailing, the great sailing, into the feminine. This marvel illustrates Virginie Hériot's text n°16 on sailing in this memorable work of art. It was published the year of her death in Arcachon Bay. A stele is dedicated to her in Cannes, a street in Brest bears her name, and a Virginie Hériot Cup still exists in the Dragons' European champt. Uzelac was featured on the poster for the 1952 Olympic Games. Framed 44 x 34 cm
