DAVID (Jacques-Louis). Le Tableau des Sabines, publicly exhibited at the Palais national des sciences et des arts, salle de la ci-devant architecture. Paris, P. Didot l'aîné, year 8 (1800). 8 p., fawn half-calf, black parts (contemporary binding).
The painter's own presentation of his painting of the Sabines, a neo-classical manifesto and the most remarkable of his output at the time, painted between 1796 and 1799. It ends with a 2-page note on the nudity of my heroes, which indeed shocked the public.
Bound with : BOURDON (Léonard). Mémoire sur l'instruction et sur l'éducation nationale. Paris, Cailleau, s.d. (1790). - Exposé de la situation de l'Empire. 1811. Together two works.
